Gamesplaza has a web site to sell Flash games. The good thing about this site is that you can go thre from your phone and directly install Flash games on your cell phone. I have not tried this myself on the phone, but rather I tried from PC and was able to load games in the browser (but could not play because some keys must be mapped to cell phone keys). Here’s an interesting article from Javaworld . It talks about how Flash is becoming a ubiquitous platform just like Java. When Flash 10 becomes available next year, it promises to run the same content on smartphones as well as Desktops essentially emulating the Java’s philosophy of ‘write once run everywhere’.

Not that folks at Java world are sitting siltent- Java has been working on JavaFX which promises a rich user experience and will compete with Flash. However, the mobile client for JavaFX is still in infancy and it is unknown when the SDK will be available.

With more than 1 million developers worldwide, and a good roadmap for penetrating into mobile devices, there’s a good case to be made that Flash may make Java obsolete at some point.

Digital Media Wire is reporting that Verizon is in talks with Apple to bring in iPhone. Apparently they have been in talk for some time now and Apple is working on creating the CDMA phone. Check out the release here. If this is true, then we’ll have first non-GSM version of iPhone.

Well- imagine that you are in a crowded city and are looking for a potty place to visit, this new iPhone application will allow you to look up more than 52,000 toilets in 10 countries and give you reviews in terms of cleanliness and comfort. The application is being developed by ‘SitOrSquat’ website and is sponsored by Charmin. Check out the press release here. Apparently the application has been downloaded by 1600 people since the web site has been launched (not sure how long its been).

A market research report released by ComScore says that iPhone users are 10 times more likely to play games than other phone users. Overall, 32.4% of iPhone users have downloaded a game, compared with a market average of 3.8%.

According to a report published in Information Week , downloads of mobile games have grown by over 17% in last year, lead by Apple iPhone. The market research firm says that the overall market for mobile games is worth $4.5 billion dollars in 2009.

Other platforms noted by the report are Symbian, Windows Mobile and Blackberry.

Folks at Instinct company(not sure if that’s a business or just a web site) in NewZealand have created a new game called EcoWarrier and is available for free download on their web site. You can download and install it on your cell phone. I went and generally had fun playing the game. Check it out.
